This website serves as a record of my Grandad’s activities during the Second World War. He wrote a diary between 1942 and 1944, covering the period when he was based in North Africa and then as a prisoner of war in Germany.
The site will contain the whole diary, along with explanatory text by myself, which will be written in square brackets [ ]. My hope is that as many people as possible around the world are able to read the diary and thereby gain insights from someone who was actually there, on the ground. It forms a valuable historical record and is also a damn good read too, and surprisingly well-written, given the circumstances.
