Rumours were rife today throughout the camp. The Germans are reported to be fighting around Naples and in the streets of Rome whilst Jerry armoured cars were reported 10 kilometers from the camp. Tonight we have almost the complete run of the camp and as an act of courtesy the Coldstream Guards are sharing guard duty with the Italians. There is a big soccer match England versus the Rest which has attracted a huge crowd of many thousands whilst the concert is also repeated. Our one desire now is to get away as soon as possible.
